Make Your Own Custom T-Shirts - Using These Tips to Save Big

There are many ways to make your own custom t-shirts that are affordable, we are going to show you a few of them. Nowadays with everyone tightening their belts financially, people are finding that if you make your own custom t shirts, you can save a boat load of money. The bottom line, when it comes to making a custom t shirt you can choose one of many ways to go about it. You can screen print the image on the shirts, embroidery, fabric painting and you can also iron-on images on the shirts.
Screen Printing. First lets discuss screen printing. You buy the shirts below wholesale at an online bulk supply company. You purchase a simple screen printing press and supplies and grab a CD or book on screen printing technique. Before you know it you'll be making your own custom t shirts at a fraction of what it would cost you to buy from a local screen printer. Over time this hobby could develop into a very profitable career.
Embroidery. If you want to make your own custom t-shirts and you decide embroidery is the way to go, again, you purchase the tees online at a bulk supplier. Nowadays embroidery equipment is pennies on the dollar compared to ten years ago. You can set up a one station embroidery maker in your garage or even kitchen table. The supplies for embroidery go a long way, and again, this little hobby has the potential to be a real money making venture if you decide to go big time.
Fabric Painting. The area of fabric painting usually falls into the homemade or crafting category. The kids making shirt designs for the grandparents, the family designing tees for a family reunion, or the local boy or girl scouts doing a project to earn merit badges. The shirts again, bought online at a bulk supplier to save you the absolute most on your money. Then you hit the local craft store or even eBay or Amazon for the fabric paints. The shirts at the craft stores can run in the $3 range, however, buying them in bulk can cost you as little as $1.25 a piece.
Iron On. When you make your own custom t-shirts iron on or transfers is the simplest of the four we've mentioned. You get the shirts from an online supplier at a great price with free shipping. Then your off to either the craft store, or any online auction, to get a premade iron on transfer for the shirts. However, many stores like Staples offer a program made by Hanes, that allows you to make custom t shirts on your own computer. You load the program, design the image, print on the transfer paper they supply or that you've gotten elsewhere, iron on and your good to go!

History of the Modern T-shirt

A modern t-shirt usually has no buttons, collars or pockets. It can be made of cotton or polyester or a blend. The t-shirt has round neck and sleeve holes and currently may be decorated with text and graphics, sometimes funny.
But, the t-shirt has not always been this way, oh no. The t-shirt has a long and proud history beginning with the ancient Egyptians who wore formal undergarments while they were erecting the pyramids in 120-degree desert heat.
Some historians theorize that the pyramids were actually supposed to be large cubes, but since each crew was exhausted from wearing t-shirts underneath their garment in the high desert heat, that subsequent crews did less and less work. This desire to do less and hurry the finality of the project lead the crew leader on day to simply put a point on top of the cube-turned-pyramid and inform the high priests and priestesses that there had been a cost overruns and a “change in plans”.
Be that as it may, t-shirts again reared their ugly heads in the 19th century, once again as formal undergarments in Britain. The Brits and their famous eye for prudence started requiring school age boys to wear t-shirts and tuck them in over their underwear but inside their pants in order to foil the bullies’ attempts at giving atomic wedgies.
The bullies were not foiled however, and just grabbed t-shirts and underpants in two motions instead of one and proceeded to give atomic wedgies as before. Some schoolchildren then used flatulence as a defense mechanism to deter the bullies, but this is for another discussion altogether.
T-shirts became popular again with the advent of World War II. Military types such as sailors began wearing these undergarments to work in and when overheated would throw off the shirts atop and work in t-shirts only.
Some early videos posted on Youtube show sailors in the 1940’s performing their duties in t-shirts aboard huge warships and occasionally breaking out in song and dance particularly to “Y-M-C-A” by the Village People. Calisthenics were performed on board these large aircraft carriers to keep the men in shape and even Richard Simmons’ father, Gene would lead the jumping jacks in his t-shirt.
In the 1960’s Forrest “Running Man” Gump heralded in a new era of decorated t-shirts. When he was once again rejected by Jenny, he took to running cross country and wiped his muddy face on what would become the first Happy Face t-shirt. Gump also told another runner that “stuff happens” or some similar vulgar verbiage and this became a national motto in no time, decorating t-shirts from coast to coast.
Since this time, t-shirts have been a method of self-expression for millions of people. First worn as a means of political commentary, it didn’t take long before the commentary turned humorous and then people started wearing all sorts of funny t-shirts to express their inner goofballs to the world.
So, there you have it, a twisted history of the modern t-shirt. Though this may be a fractured fairytale of what really happened, the essence is in fact accurate. No go out and buy a t-shirt to express your inner goofball.

Clean, Funny T-Shirts - A Review of Random Shirts

There are tons of t-shirt companies out there, but many sell some pretty filthy, offensive shirts. I was looking for some good, clean, funny shirts the other day, and I think I found a winner with a company called Random Shirts.
Home of the $10 Tee (how can you resist a $10 T-shirt?), Random Shirts seems to pride themselves on selling completely unoffensive shirts that try to be crazy or hilarious. My personal favorite is the “My Bad, -Eve” shirt. These shirts will definitely cause your friends to do a double take, and at least crack a smile. I mean, if you saw your friend wearing a “Unicorn: The Other White Meat” shirt, you would definitely have a “what the crap?” look on your face.
The company also does some cool work with poverty, and has done some pretty cool promotions. At one point, for every 384 shirts they sold, they would sponsor a needy child through Compassion International. Thus, the kid will get needed clothes, food, health care, and stuff like that. After that they decided to give $1 from every shirt sold to help needy kids in Uganda. So not only do you get a great shirt, but you're also supporting impoverished kids and a company that really cares about them.
There are only a few negative things I can say about Random Shirts. One thing that disappointed me was that it took a very long time for them to respond to an email I sent them. After looking into it, I also feel that their affiliate program is poorly managed. Of course, this will only affect interested webmasters, not those just looking to purchase t-shirts.
So, in review: shirts that are clean and funny, and genuinely caring people running the show behind the scenes. With only a few negative attributes, I can recommend Random Shirts as a a solid company to purchase t-shirts from.

Finding The Funny T-Shirts That Are Right For You

According to many you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, however, in reality most people do. And, appearance isn't just an issue which has an impact on the publishing business. It impacts you too! What you wear, and how you wear it, can really make the difference between creating a great impression and falling short. Whether your buying a new pair of shoes, jeans or a t-shirt don't think that what's inside is all that matters.
Funny t-shirts are a growing market segment, and neither wonder -- a decade ago funny t-shirts were associated with vacations and event memorabilia. Now they're much more than that. It's now possible to buy funny t-shirts that look stylish, and have jokes which cater for a wide array of audiences.
Personal Branding...
Procter and Gamble are the worlds largest advertiser. They own a large portfolio of food brands, and they understand how important it is to get their message across. When they decide to introduce a new product to the market they don't just call it a generic name. They could have opted to call "Duracell "Proctor and Gamble Batteries", but they didn't. They didn't because they recognize the importance that the name and image of their products has on perception and the likelihood that someone is going to buy their products.
You can't change your name, but you can mould your image. The clothing you wear has an impact on the way you're perceived. And, unlike food brands, you can't get away with having the same image everyday. Wear the same pair of jeans two days in a row and nobody will notice, and the same goes for shoes. Wear the same jacket every day and nobody will think anything of it. But, don't think the same rule applies with t-shirts. You have to have an expansive wardrobe of t-shirts, each and every one forming a part of who you are.
A Great Talking Point...
Funny t-shirts can be a great talking point. You've met someone for the first time, and the conversation has turned to the weather. You notice that they're wearing a t-shirt that uses a play on a famous film character's saying to provoke humour. You now have a conversational route away from weather and into films. Clever, isn't it?
Cheap And Cheerful...
Nobody likes to wear the same clothes everyday. And, with funny t-shirts available for under $20 you don't have to. If you wear a different t-shirt everyday it will look as though you've wearing a completely different outfit for a fraction of the cost of buying one.
Sophisticated?
If you think funny t-shirts are for children then why not consider vintage t-shirts? Vintage shirts have many of the same advantages as funny t-shirts, however if you find they get in the way of your sophistication then don't go sacrificing that for no one. Opt for a vintage t-shirt instead.

Torso Pants - My Favorite Funny T-Shirts

I was skeptical when I saw the Torso Pants ad, featuring kittens with astronaut helmets, but after much careful research, study, and reflection, I am a believer.
You see, I'm very particular when it comes to t shirt humor. I'm not into abrasive, offensive, obnoxious, overtly sexual or super geeky. Not my style. What I'm really into is dry humor, funny absurdity, hamsters, and awesome quotes or references from the best movie comedies.
Torso Pants makes the grade. Their designs are bright and beautiful and their rap is strong.
Even their t-shirts featuring only text are hilarious. Try not to laugh at the likes of:
"I enjoy entertainment" or "At least I'm out doing things" or even "This isn't the shirt I ordered."
With a ton of different styles, colors and brands of tees, including American Apparel (my favorite), Torso Pants is a major player on the funny t shirt scene.
Seriously, can you pass up a shirt that says "pancakes." Frankly, I can't and neither should you.
One caveat: don't buy the drunken astronaut shirt whatever you do. It's not funny. Drunk space shuttle driving is not a joke. Oh, and while I'm at it, do you really think I want to parade around in a shirt glorifying spliffage with the Roman numerals IV:XX . Didn't think so. And what the hell are TorsoPants. Sounds pretty much like it was made up in a moment of desperation.
Anyway, despite these little hiccups, Torso Pants is a decent little tee shirt emporium where you can get dressed for less. Well, not really. While you can buy a crappy t-shirt at a thrift store for a buck or in bulk at Wal-Mart for a few dollars, you'll have to drop pretty pennies on these premium goods. However, if you...
Have distinguished tastes
Chew like a camel
Collect plastic rubies
Walk like a woodchuck
And put your socks on twice for the core body exercise
Then, it's 91.3% certain you will get your hard-earned money's worth at the Torso Pants.
Sounds like your ball of wax? Then you absolutely must see the top 15 Torso Pants funny t shirts.
